Phones

Mobile Phones im sure you know what a mobile phone is but in case you don''t, here goes,

A Mobile Phone also known as a Portable Telephone is a rather small handheld device which is commonly used for taking pictures or recording video clips these portable devices come in various shapes and sizes, popular versions of the Mobile Phone are silver or black, the latest technology in phones also play music when someone calls you which is an excellent feature if you fancy listening to some music at the same time as someone wants to talk to you.

Mobile Phones or Mobiles as they are commonly called are available on lots of different networks, choosing a network for your new mobile is a tricky business as each network offers different types of services and price structures known as tariffs, then there is the issue of coverage, phones are very clever at informing you in advance of where your car will breakdown, just drive around your area and watch the signal strength meter on the display of your phone, as soon as it drops down to nothing and displays a message like "no service" that''s the exact spot your car will breakdown one day! clever stuff! Each network offers different breakdown locations throughout the UK,

Networks tend to boast that there service covers 98% of the UK population, remember that''s the uk population not the UK, when these tests where carried out we do not know! maybe it was New Years Eve at the recent Millennium when 50% of the UK''s population was in London!

The signal produced by a mobile phone can also be dangerous apparently, for instance mobile phones must be switched off whilst your in any hospital in the UK, if your not sure if you are in a Hospital just walk outside the building and look on the roof, if its a Hospital you will see many mobile phone transmitters scattered around the edge of the building!

You may also notice that mobiles don''t work very well on The Tube, but then again neither do the Trains.

Back to the Tariffs offered by the UK Networks, Vodafone Orange 3 o2 and T-Mobile all offer contract tariffs that include FREE calls to other uk mobiles if you pay a higher monthly fee, so not exactly free then, most inclusive minutes do not include calls to non geographical number like 0845 / 0870 , its easy to tell who has these types of numbers, most companies businesses services shops, basically if the call is necessary then its probably non geographical, not forgetting with a mobile phone the most expensive call your likely to make will be to a free phone number!, then again you can get cheap calls and free phones with certain deals.

Different flavours of Portable Telephones are available by brands like Motorola Nokia Ericsson Siemens Sharp Sagem Alcatel Panasonic Samsung Sony Ericsson

Well that''s it a basic guide to mobile phones, to help you find more information on choosing your favourite shape or brand of mobile we have included some destination buttons to the most popular telephone purveyors on the internet, must go me batteries going dea.............

Did you know you can get your phone line from BT yet purchase your calls from a different telecoms provider?

Why?
Save money

I want to keep my existing phone number; do I need to change it?
No! You keep the same number that you and your friends and family know and love.

Do I have to pay a separate bill?
Normally yes, but only for the calls you make.

So I won’t get a bill from BT then?
Yes you will get a BT bill, but only for the phone line, BT will continue providing the services and support for your actual phone line, providing you use your new telecoms provider for all your calls then your BT bill should be fixed each month.

Is it true some home phone providers offer free calls between there customers?
Yes, some phone networks do offer this, so the more of your friends you get to join the same provider the better.

Do I have to sign a minimum term contract?
Not normally but always read the agreement at your chosen telecom provider’s website for confirmation.

I currently pay for evening and weekend calls with BT?
Other providers also offer this service but with extended hours or a lower monthly price.
